This year’s CGMA Emerging Leaders Competition was run by The Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA) at universities in Central and Eastern Europe, and Eurasia in a pursuit to encourage students to understand the skills of finance professionals required by international employers.

The CGMA Emerging Leaders Competition 2020 - an annual business competition encouraging university students to immerse themselves in the modern business world, showcase their talent and better understand what skills they need to build a successful career in business and finance – has been resolved.
The final round was held virtually on 30 October 2020 amongst the top three Emerging Leaders Teams. The CGMA Emerging Leaders Champion’s title went to The Going Concern team from Azerbaijan State University of Economics (2nd place – team ICFO from Ukraine and 3rd – team Fortune from Russia).
The 2020 edition of the CGMA Emerging Leaders Competition took place in Europe for the very first time. Almost 30 universities from 10 countries (Poland, Ukraine, Bulgaria, Romania, Czechia, Slovakia, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan, and Russia), and over 100 took part.
Jakub Bejnarowicz, Regional Director for Europe, CIMA said: "We wanted students to found out what it feels like to have the fate of a global company hanging by the stroke of their signature. By taking part in the competition they got a hint of what it means to make business decisions that swing fortunes by the millions – getting face to face with the processes, questions, and the strategies that come up in the corner office to see it all for themselves."
The CGMA Emerging Leaders Competition 2020 was organised in partnership with UBS (Strategic Partner) and Kaplan (Partner), which share CIMA’s vision of developing and nurturing young talent around the world. Media Partners included Kariera w Finansach web portal and Eurostudent magazine.
